Role of the Barangays

As the basic political unit, the barangay serves as the primary planning and implementing unit of government policies, plans, programs, projects, and activities in the community, and as a forum wherein the collective views of the people may be expressed, crystallized and considered, and where disputes may be amicably settled.

Chief Officials and Offices of the Barangays

Each barangay is headed by the punong barangay as the chief executive of the barangay government . Legislative authority is exercised by the sangguniang barangay composed of the punong barangay as presiding officer, and the seven (7) regular sangguniang barangay members elected at large and the sangguniang kabataan chairman, as ex-officio member. Administrative support is provided by a barangay secretary and a barangay treasurer.
