The 5-stage capability building program under the Mindanao Basic Urban Services Sector Project (MBUSSP) for the formulation of Lugait's Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) wound up last June 27, 2008. It was capped with the final run through of the planning documents with MBUSSP urban planning consultants Delia Josef and Dickton Rye for Lugait's development road map for the next 3 years. The MBUSSP is a special project facilitated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as a loan package with funding support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Nordic Development Fund (ADB). The CDP is hoped to be approved by the Sangguniang Bayan by July this year. It will be the first such document to be produced using the Rationalized Planning System (RPS) under the MBUSSP coaching model. The RPS is a new planning tool developed for local government units aimed at rationalizing and harmonizing local development plans required by national government agencies for LGUs to formulate from a count of 27 plans to only 3 namely: the Annual Investment Plan (AIP), the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) and the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP). |

Cagayan de Oro City- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Oriental province headed by Vice Governor Norris Babiera had earlier joined the call to support and help enthrone three (3) famous Philippine natural wonders to the New 7 Wonders of the World, a worldwide online search aimed to sensitize people to the beauty of the world’s heritage, both man-made and natural, and to alert the world of its destruction and decay. In its Resolution 111-2008 the provincial board is urging Misamisnons to support by registering and voting for Tubbataha Reef of Palawan, Puerto Princesa Subterranean National Park and the Chocolate Hills of Bohol via www.new7wonders.com. In an article from its official publication, SP Mantalaan, Kagawad Jeremy Pelaez, author of the resolution explained that it will be a great pride for the Filipino people should these famous eco-tourism spots be included among the 7 top natural wonders of the world. He further added that this move (by the SP) is a manifestation of its recognition of the importance of tourism in the Philippine economy. |
